I wish I could adequately describe what it was like the very first time I caught sight of a pair of nesting bald eagles through the lens of my camera. It was one of the most profoundly difficult times I have ever had in deciding whether to keep the camera to my eye or simply drop it in the car and just stand there staring in awe and let the lens of my eye record it on my heart.
I have photographer friends in Alaska who consider bald eagles a fairly common sight. I don't ever want it to be that way for me, because I do long for there to be things in this world that still take my breath away.
This was definitely one of them.
