Come To The Edge

Eleanor Roosevelt said..  "Do one thing every day that scares you."

The first time I heard that quote, I sat with it a long time. I grumbled over it with a friend.  I turned it over and over in my mind and heart, wondering what the heck that meant and why in the world it would ever be valuable to me to do such a ridiculous thing.  I sort of have this resistance to being scared, you know?  I have done more things in the past year that have scared the bejeezies out of me, than I have ever done in my previous 45 years of existence, and I can honestly say.. I am beginning to understand why doing that very thing, is so incredibly valuable. Doing things outside of your comfort zone, will always push you to grow.

I have been invited to spend the day with Lexy in her studio in Syracuse, NY on Sunday. She is one of the most delightful people I have come across... full of energy, wonderful humor, and an openness I have really grown to appreciate. She is also one of the best commercial photographers I know, with the most beautiful artistic eye when it comes to lighting and set design that I have ever seen. Without a doubt, I know she'll be whispering "Come to the edge." (with a gentle push).
